Alan and Donna Stokes

Alan P. Stokes, CPA, RFC

Alan started his accounting firm in 1985, as a sole practitioner. Previously, he worked for Maryland Casualty Company, in Baltimore, Maryland, in their Finance Division, where he received his CPA.

Having the dream to open his own practice, he took a leap of faith and purchased a Franchise “Comprehensive Accounting Services” in 1985. Today the firm operates as Century Accounting & Financial Services. After 25+ years in business, his expertise (and his team’s) is in helping small businesses make the everyday decisions that affect the success of their business. His CPA designation requires him to stay up to date on the tax law by taking Continuing Education. Alan also has Securities Series 6 and 63 licenses, in additional to his insurance license. He is a member Maryland Society of Accountants and the National Association of Registered Financial Consultants. Alan’s passions are his family and cars, especially street rods and muscle cars! He loves golf, especially playing with his father. Alan is involved with his church, Our Lady of Grace, in Parkton, Maryland and serves on their Finance Committee.

Donna L. Stokes

Donna joined the accounting practice in 1986, for the purpose of assisting Alan in growing his business. She previously worked for the Maryland State Police, starting right out of high school. Donna’s outgoing personality and their desire to work together, made sales and marketing a perfect position for her. Years of talking with small businesses, hands on experience, and lots of good stories, is what has been successful in bringing on new clients. She has attended numerous seminars and training, and is a lifetime member of the Sandler President’s Club. She is also a member of the Timonium Optimist, the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, MeetLocalBiz.com, and the Hereford Zone Business Association. Donna is also involved with her church, Our Lady of Grace, in Parkton, Maryland, as a Eucharistic Minister. Donna loves to write poetry, and her goal is to complete her first book in the near future, that will include both a selection of poetry and stories.

Most proud of:

Being able to work together and still live happily ever after for the past 36 years.

Developed the Annual Math Competition with two local schools. This has been held annually for 12 years. Prizes are awarded to the winners and Century Accounting works with local businesses in getting prizes donated and awarding gift certificates and savings bonds. The idea came from the inability to find good applicants for their accounting practice. The goal is to give more focus and awareness on how important basic math is. There are no calculators allowed for this test!
